■ Background of the business partnership

Funai Soken Logistics Inc. has extensive experience in logistics consulting and expertise in on-site implementation support, providing comprehensive solutions to companies' logistics challenges, from strategy formulation to operational improvement.

In its Medium-Term Management Plan 2025, OKI is working on the logistics sector as one of its new areas for creating future businesses. Within this framework, the company is implementing its business entry steps in three phases: "improving the efficiency of branch line transportation," "optimizing branch line-to-trunk line transportation," and "optimizing the entire supply chain." From FY 2026, full-scale activities for Phase 2, "optimizing branch line-to-trunk line transportation," will begin.

As the two companies considered their respective growth strategies, they agreed to work together to address the challenges faced by small and medium-sized logistics companies, which find it particularly difficult to invest in digital transformation (DX), in response to the decline in logistics transport capacity and driver shortages that have become serious issues under the Work Style Reform Act enacted in April 2024.

■ Overview of the business partnership

Through this business alliance, we aim to develop and provide a platform that supports regional logistics, featuring functions that can flexibly respond to the diverse business operations that differ from company to company, particularly for small and medium-sized logistics companies and shippers in rural areas facing severe labor shortages, as well as overseas markets with similar challenges to those in Japan.

- Providing services that can be used by small and medium-sized logistics companies in regional areas that find it difficult to invest in DX on their own.
In addition to a transportation management system (TMS) that addresses the logistics challenges of 2024, we also offer services that allow you to use warehouse management systems (WMS) and order management systems (OMS) as needed.

- Providing services to shippers who are finding it increasingly difficult to arrange transportation due to labor shortages.
The platform we are developing and aiming to provide will include participation from small and medium-sized logistics companies. This will allow us to offer services to shippers that enable joint delivery with the small and medium-sized logistics companies participating in the platform.

- Providing services to other countries facing similar challenges to those in Japan.
OKI will enhance its warehouse management systems, including its location and inventory management system "SHO-XYZ," as well as its transportation management systems, and provide services for global expansion.
