The late Yukio Funai (d. January 19,
2014), an expert in comprehensive diagnosis of corporate management,
establishes Japan Marketing Center Co., Ltd. (the present Funai Soken
Holdings Inc.) in Yariyamachi, Osaka.
Henshin Shouhou (Commerce in Change),
written by Yukio Funai becomes a best seller, with more than 400,000 copies
sold. Capitalizing on this momentum, sales also increase dramatically. This
marks the beginning of a transition away from consulting based exclusively
on competition.
Yukio Funai is named chairman of the
board and Tadashi Moto’ori becomes the company’s second president. The
company transforms itself away from its former focus on logistics, which
held sway during the 1970s and 1980s, and repositions itself as a provider
of professional services. The ability of each individual to act autonomously
and adapt to
changing circumstances rather than waiting for instructions from superiors
proves to be the key to a successful transformation.
The company is listed in the Second
Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange. Tokyo headquarters move to Nishi
Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo (the present Gotanda office).
Masahiko Koyama is named the company’s
third president. Recognizing a business climate requiring “a change of
gears,” management seeks to reestablish a growth trajectory.
Tokyo headquarters move to the
Nihonseimei Marunouchi Bldg., in Marunouchi, Chioda-ku, Tokyo.
We celebrate 40 years of business.
Sakae Takashima is named the company’s fourth president. Our corporate motto
becomes “self-control, autonomy, and teamwork.”
Osaka headquarters move to Kitahama,
Chuo-ku, Osaka. The Yodoyabashi Seminar Place opens.
Takayuki Nakatani is appointed
president.
